 RADIO FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION (RFID)

RFID is an acronym for “radio-frequency identification” and refers to a technology whereby digital data encoded in RFID tags or smart labels (defined below) are captured by a reader via radio waves. PGGCG-11 Library has adopted this technique in 2017 to provide better services to its students and staff.

RFID SECURITY GATE:
Security gates are placed at entry and exit of the library to keep check on unauthorized books going outside. It restricts the movement of unchecked items by giving alarms and linking them to record event for easy tractability. This system also ensures the foot falls in the library easily get recorded with inbuilt people counter at the RFID security gate in the library.

KIOSK:

An RFID tag is applied to library item for its unique identification having basic details encoded on it. It facilitated identification of the tagged item on RFID readers supporting various library applications without intervention of human beings. RFID enabled self check-out system is an independent touch screen based kiosk for borrowers to perform issue-return functions on their own which is easy to operate. This also enables faster movements of library items.

LIBRARY SOFTWARE : LSMART
